Herts Peanuts League Round 2 18-May-2013

Our younger swimmers competed in Round 2 of the Herts Peanuts League and came 2nd. Another fantastic result! This round was fiercely contested by all 6 competing clubs. But, with 9 firsts, 15 second places and 2 new club records from EMMA CLARKE (for 25m Fly) and ANA HILL LOPEZ-MENCHERO (for 25m back), Verulam put in a superb performance. Well done to Alex Noon, Freya Martin, Amy Price, Harvey Young, Sophie Hadfield and Rachel White who competed in the Peanuts League for the first time. Big thank you also to parents and our seniors swimmers who volunteered to host the event so smoothly.

The final round is on 15th June, so please pencil that day in your diary!

Luton Long Course Masters Meet 18-May-2013

Congratulations to Janet Gardiner, our club secretary and masters swimmer who competed in the Luton Long Course Masters and achieved GOLD for 100m back and bronze for 50m freestyle. Every Sunday, together with other members of Verulam Masters, Janet trains in the lane next to the Verulam ‘youngsters’. Let’s hope most of them will also continue to swim so successfully as Janet!

Verulam Swim School Fees June-August

We are now collecting fees to cover swimming lessons from the end of May up to the end of August. Please find attached the membership form to be returned with payment by Sunday 26th May. New swimmers who have joined since March 2013 are already covered up to the end of August and don’t need to pay this fees request. No payment is required for main club swimmers.

Hemel Hempstead Spring Development Open Meet Saturday 11-May-2013

This will be a “cardless” meet. All swimmers must sign in no later than 15 minutes prior to the start of the warm up for each session. Failure to do so will result in automatic deletion from the programme. No refunds for late arrivals or cancellations.

Please also note there are new parking restrictions at Hemel Sportspace. This means you park as normal and then when you enter the building you have to register you car registration on the touchscreen by the reception. You normally get three hours, but this has been extended for this meet.

Luton Open Meet 27/28-April-2013

26 Verulam swimmers had a very successful weekend at the Luton Open Meet – including Amy Price, Sophie Hadfield, Maisie Parkin and Ewan Muschamp for whom this was their first open meet. Our swimmers entered 76 races and a whopping 67 results were pbs or first time swims. Congratulations to Elena Baccas, Luke Canning, Libby Chambers, Stanley Tinkler, Emma Target and Emma Clarke who all set new club records.

Also this weekend, Jack Liversidge took part in the Herts Primary Schools Swimming Gala for St Albans District, who came 3rd overall. The year 6 boys team, which Jack was part of, were overall winners in their age group and Jack also won his heat of the 50m backstroke. Congratulation to Jack !

News Flash – Verulam Win Round 1 of the Peanuts Galas

Verulam win the first round of the Herts Peanut in great style! We achieved 91 points – second place club had 141! Well done and a big thanks to all our swimmers for your fantastic swims.

Luton Open Meet 27/28-April-2013

and review the updated session times emailed out. Withdrawals must be made 45 minutes prior to the start of the first event in each session (times as above unless otherwise advised on the day). Swimmers failing to attend the start of a heat without withdrawing will incur a £5 penalty, which must be paid by the swimmer or their club before the swimmer is allowed to participate further in the meet. If you know that you cannot attend please let Zofia know ASAP and on the day cancellation text Zofia as soon as possible.
